FEBRUARY

Frozen creek in snow Our creek gets very quiet in the winter once it freezes over. The deer, raccoons and other small animals still often find wet spots to drink from. The snow seems to absorb all of the sound and the solitude makes for a very pleasant walk.

This is our driveway. We occasionally scatter shelled corn for the deer. We only put out enough for them to browse awhile.

Whitetail Deer in Michigan
Whitetail Deer in winter garden This deer looks unhappy because the bird bath is frozen. For comparison, you can see this same area of our front garden under similar circumstances in our April page.

I shot this through the window next to our front door. This Whitetail clearly has its thick winter coat on.
