The creek was back to normal by the first week of June. We haven't "improved" or "developed" as they say, the creek or swampy area. We let nature take her course and try to tiptoe around the wildflowers, ferns and other plants. It's interesting to observe the animal tracks in the mud next to the water. It attracts a lot of activity. |

During a walk along a local marsh, two or three miles from us as the crow flies, we came across an adult Raccoon climbing out of the top of a large bird house. The house was probably intended for a Wood Duck. The young Raccoon was left at home with a great view of the wetland. |

The hardy Geranium blossoms were out by June first in the courtyard garden. In the lower right corner you can see milkweed volunteers. We allow some to grow for the Monarchs and for us. The sweet fragrance of Milkweed in bloom is intoxicating. Particularly in a small space like our little courtyard. |

There is a large clump of Blue Flag Iris by the creek. Every June I put on my "Wellies" and walk a short distance down the creek to see them. |

I pulled into my neighbor's driveway to turn around and there was "our" Red Fox taking lunch home to the family. It was a quick grab shot through the windshield and the resolution isn't what it could have been without all that glass between us. Our neighbor refers to them as his foxes. I guess we'll have to share them. (No, I don't know what he caught. I'm guessing a young wild turkey or rabbit.) |
